Janene Otten - Desire Images

My first professional live music shoot was at a Steve Winwood show at Irving Plaza in NYC in 1997. I completed my professional Certification in Photography in 2003 at the New York Institute of Photography in New York City. I have been a performing musician all of my life, singing and playing classical vocal and flute music as well as playing and singing rock, folk and Irish traditional music. One of my favorite past times has been attending concerts so one day, when introduced at a NYC club by a colleague to another colleague as a photographer, my reputation began. I decided I should try to get some of the stuff I'd been shooting around town published and, fortunately for me, I was working at MJI Broadcasting where, with the help of CEO Josh Feigenbaum and Web Editor Sue Cummings, my work was published as part of MJI's Rock News and Rock Daily web services for hundreds of radio stations across America. My goal is to publish a book of my music images accompanied by my own brand of journalistic storytelling. I'm in need of funding for that so please contact me if you are interested in publishing or helping to publish my work in a book.

I have also traveled extensively for a period of time, working as a portrait and event photographer. I worked for Prestige Portraits, photographing as many as 8 sittings per day. After four years of studio photography, I continued to shoot portraits and events for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the New York Youth Symphony, New York Choral Consortium, Astoria Music & Arts and for the United States Tennis Association. I have also held positions as a photo editor for Wire Image and as a photographer represented by Retna, Ltd. I am grateful for the time I've spent doing what I love. I will be adding images and updating the site regularly. Come back and visit often.

Warm Regards,

Janene Otten
